About Ohara Ikebana:

The Ohara School of Ikebana is one of the three major Ikebana schools in Japan. Ohara Ikebana is one of the most popular ways of arranging flowers in the Japanese manner. It has its own unique character because Ohara Ikebana respects nature. This is reflected in: the material we use, always trying to follow the seasons, also the style of arranging reflects the characteristics of  the branch, leaf or flower used. With a history that dates back to the Meiji period in Japan, we have inherited a valuable artistic culture and Ohara Ikebana has never stopped working to introduce Ikebana worldwide. 2024 is the 40th  Anniversary of the founding of the England Chapter. We are welcoming more participants to join us and to share our enthusiasm for this magical art form. Together we can enjoy creating beautiful floral art!

About the demonstrator/president:

Elizabeth Bourlet, the current President of the England Chapter, Ohara School of Ikebana. She is a second master who has been studying Ohara Ikebana for over 15 years. She has travelled to many countries and worked together with masters from Japan, France, Italy, Belgium, India and of course our Head Master Hiroki Ohara.

She also continues to learn from nature and her own tutors in order to fulfil herself and achieve higher levels. Elizabeth teaches Ohara Ikebana in London and is one of several Ohara Ikebana teachers in England.
