Did you know that Father’s Day is actually still quite a modern holiday? Unlike
Mother’s Day, which is a long established christian holiday (Mothering Sunday),
Father’s Day was first celebrated in the US at the beginning of the 19th century to
honour a tragic coal mining accident. But it wasn’t until 1972 that Father’s day
became a recognised holiday after President Nixon declared it.
On Father’s Day we celebrate all the father figures in our lives.
