Improvers Modern Calligraphy Workshop

Join Sharon from Calligraphy and the City in this 2.5 hour improver’s modern calligraphy workshop. This workshop is perfect for anyone who has experience of using the pointed pen. Maybe you’ve attended a beginner’s calligraphy class with Sharon here at MerseyMade (make a day of it with the beginner’s class in the morning) or maybe you are a self-taught calligrapher and would like to improve your skills further.

In this improver’s calligraphy class, we will focus on refining your technique and developing your own style, with lots of one-to-one help. We will start with quick recap of the importance of drills, look at what makes a cohesive alphabet, this will help guide you as you explore your own personal style. We then progress on to look at the different ways of connecting letters, the use of spacing, proportions, and bouncing letters. Finally, we work towards creating your own piece of calligraphy artwork with a phrase of your choice or take inspiration from your worksheet pack.

The price of this workshop is £69, this includes 2.5hrs of tuition, a hot drink and your take home calligraphy improver’s kit which has a RRP £25.

The improvers kit contains:

· Improver’s Calligraphy worksheet pack

· Oblique nib holder

· Nib

· Black sumi ink

· A5 Rhodia pad

· A4 Bristol board

During the class you will also have access to use a variety of coloured and metallic inks.

Already have your own resources, such as nib holder, nib, ink, Rhodia paper (or other suitable smooth paper)?
