Advent Day 11 – Jess Barr

Spending her first MerseyMade Christmas right, our shop manager Jess Barr has been well and truly bitten by the festive spirit. 

Expect to find her dancing around the Christmas trees with her tinsel tree headband on.

What's your favourite thing about the festive season?

The magic and excitement, twinkling lights, cosy nights, meeting up with friends and family. Now I have my daughter, I love bringing traditions from my own childhood into hers.

Name one thing that you'd encourage others to do over this festive season.

Christmas light nights. We start in town, have a walk around and then drive around the city to see what amazing lights we can see.

What does MerseyMade mean to you?

MerseyMade to me is a home for people who care about art, culture and community. You should walk through our doors and feel welcome and want to stay with us, whether it’s having a drink, a shop or learning something new and interesting.

How do you express your creative side?

Creativity for me comes in so many ways, I love to draw and make things and come from artistic education but as life takes over it’s difficult to make time. So I love to have craft days with my daughter, make gifts for friends, decorate my home and cook.

What's the best present you've ever given and why?

My mums 60th birthday present was a homemade hamper of gifts for her retirement. We selected things for her to use on her new chapter in life and tickets for a floristry course.

She was delighted with the thought that went into it and the fact she had things to look forward to.
