Advent Day 17 – Gemma Longworth

We’re sure that by now you’re aware that we at MerseyMade are in the presence of upcycling royalty. 

With the star of Channel 4’s ‘Find It, Fix It, Flog It’ Gemma Longworth being one of our hardworking in house studio artists, we had the privilege to chat with her about what she is doing this festive season; when she’s not filming or hosting one of her incredible workshops, that is.

What's your favourite thing about the festive season?

Sharing quality time with my loved ones.

And in those brief quiet moments, I love taking some time for myself. Just sitting back with a hot chocolate and a Christmas film.

Name one thing that you'd encourage others to do over this festive season.

It means the world to us when people choose to shop with us.

What does MerseyMade mean to you?

It's my creative family. The place where I can truly be myself.

You can see that as soon as you walk into my studio, it's a creative explosion and I love it.

How do you express your creative side?

Through colour.

I love colour, how it can lift my mood.

I believe that the right colours make you happier, so I surround myself with bright colours.

What's the best present you've ever given and why?

That’s a difficult one, but I love to give handmade gifts wherever possible as it shows more time and thought.

Last year I painted a huge canvas for my mum. Unlike mine, her home is very neutral in colour so it was a challenge to create something I knew she would appreciate. It now hangs pride of place in her living room. So she must love it or it would be in the spare room!
