'Two is better than one'

Twins, illustrators and now a joint venture.

‘Sunbursts and bendy shapes’

The Jones Boys revisit the golden era of the travel poster with a unique twist on Art Deco using vibrant tones. Originally from Prescot, twins Andrew and Philip have spread their wings. Andrew has settled by the Sea in Crosby, where they have their main studio and workshop. Andrew, a commercial illustrator, graphic designer and lecturer and has been working freelance nearly 20 years, Philip, now based in Lancaster, specialises in scientific and medical illustration and his work in this area has been widely published. Andrew and Philip began collaborating as the Jones Boys in 2015.

Their design process begins by taking first-hand references and photographs of iconic places and buildings before stripping their illustrations back to bold graphics and simplified shapes. They take inspiration for their colour palettes from Art Deco posters.

The Jones Boys have been members of MerseyMade since opening in November 2019. Since then, their range of designs has grown, and they now print their illustrations onto cushions and coasters!
