Here at MerseyMade, we’re so excited to announce that we have not only been nominated, but we are finalists in the LGBTQ+ Ally Award category of the North West LGBTQ+ Business Awards! Without our wonderful LGBTQ+ creatives and a community that strives to uplift and support them, we wouldn’t be here, so this is a thank you to all of them.
We are so grateful to be recognised and in turn, we wanted to share with you just some of the wonderful items that our lovely LGBTQ+ makers have created to celebrate the community.
Wear your pride with pride! (See what we did there.) From ‘Trans Women Welcome’ to ‘Support Queer Artists’, Sophie has it all covered, ensuring that everyone is catered for. So, jazz up your notebook, laptop or gifts with these bright and beautiful statements.
This gorgeous candle is handmade by Eddie. Using six colours – all with entirely unique smells – that form the pride flag. This candle takes Eddie up to a week to complete, having to wait for each individual layer to set. But patience is a virtue, and the outcome is stunning. Topped with glitter and presented with an ‘I love you’ token attached to the box, what more could you want to celebrate the beauty of such a vibrant community.
So good, we have to mention her twice. With a large portion of Sophie’s work celebrating LGBTQ+ icons, it only makes sense that she has also created a gorgeous pin badge of her ‘I AM AN ALLY’ design. For those who aren’t a part of the community but see the importance of creating a safe space for those who are.
Ryan has selected the most beautiful quote to celebrate a movement towards a more inclusive, loving world.
‘More smiling, less worrying. More compassion, less judgement. More blessed, less stressed. More love, less hate.’ - Roy T. Bennet (The Light in the Heart)
They’re words we at MerseyMade live by, so we love having them on display with the bright rainbow background to match.
Lastly, we want to congratulate our lovely Eddie Fortune on being selected as a finalist for the Best New Business Award. We’re so proud to see his business thrive and gain the recognition that we know it deserves. Keep an eye out for Eddie’s appearance in our upcoming Comedy Night at MerseyMade on Saturday 2nd October. With an LGBTQI+ positive line up, it’s set to be a great night!
