There’s something beautiful about Liverpool’s waterfront during these colder months. Wrapping up, grabbing a hot chocolate from an independent shop and walking along. Whether it’s simply to stroll or to people watch, it’s already a wonderful experience.
But with the return of the River of Light, that walk has been made even more magical.
Here at MerseyMade, we’re art lovers without question. So, we’re obviously big fans of the breathtaking outdoor gallery of light that is right on our doorstep. With twelve installations celebrating the light, art and music that we have missed in these recent times.
“It is time for our streets to be alive again, not to stand dark and silent.”
Here are MerseyMade’s top tips for enjoying the River of Light event this year…
With so much to see, you don’t want to miss a thing. Pop into MerseyMade for a printed map of the trial, courtesy of Visit Liverpool and plan your route over a cup of coffee. With our extended hours Thursday-Saturday seeing us stay open until 9pm, we’re the perfect spot to meet up with your group before heading out to explore.
Only minutes from MerseyMade, Wave, located on Thomas Steers Way, in Liverpool One. We are overjoyed with this fabulous piece being located on our doorstep. Consisting of around five hundred suspended orbs, and utilising both light and sound, Wave was imagined by the great minds at Squidsoup. And the perfect first stop after picking up a take out drink from ourselves.
After a year indoors, our social calendar is still playing catch up. But what better an event than this to meet up with your friends and spend quality time together. Snap a few pictures and get that social media feed looking a bit healthier too. Winter can often leave you feeling less sociable and more introverted, but we can’t afford to miss out on any more opportunities to make amazing memories with those we love!
Whilst you’re exploring the beautiful art on display, why not step off of the beaten track and see the rest of the art that Liverpool’s creative scene has to offer. From our studios to our stockists, MerseyMade is full of beautiful creations that will compliment your River of Light experience. And only minutes from amazing places like The Tate and The Bluecoat, there’s plenty more to explore after a visit to our space.
